Triumph for FEAR ME NOT (Kristian
Levring) at Mar Del Plata
TrustNordisk title FEAR
ME NOT has won prestigious awards at the Argentinian A festival Mar Del Plata
(Nov 6-16). Male lead Ulrich Thomsen (THE CELEBRATION, THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH,
BROTHERS) won the award for Best Actor. The film was also honoured with the
award for Best Script.
The intense drama directed
by the dogma brother Kristian Levring and co-written with Anders Thomas Jensen
got off at a great start earlier this year with an impressive international
launch at the Toronto Film Festival (Contemporary World Cinema).
The film made its mark with
both buyers and international press, resulting in a US deal with IFC. From here
it travelled on to San Sebastian, participating in the main competition.
Screen International has
described the film with the following comment:
Kristian Levring’s fourth
theatrical feature is an unnerving psychological drama that perfectly captures
the self-involvement, anxiety and perpetual search for happiness which plague
the chattering classes. Anchored by a chilling performance from Ulrich Thomsen
as a man descending into a 'crise de nerfs', the film should attract keen
attention…

Because of dangerous side effects, the trial is subsequently abandoned but
Michael continues to take the pills. Having lost all control, Michael's
repressed instincts resurface with a force and violence that no-one could have
predicted.
